After School Programs
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) programs are federally funded partnerships between schools and communities that provide safe and exciting learning, health, social services, cultural and recreational programs before school, after school, and on weekends for elementary and middle school students. BTB’s partners include large and national organizations, local grass-roots and community-based organizations, universities and foundations.
The 21st CCLC program strives to bring back the most at-risk children and youth into a safe educational environment that is inviting and one in which they feel that they can succeed. Paid and volunteer mentors and tutors, as well as teachers working after-school, help to care for, assist and educate students.
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) and the After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) grant applications are now available. Private schools are eligible to apply individually for grants or as private school consortia. Private schools may also work with public school districts to see if the districts can accommodate your eligible students within their grants. Please visit the State Website to obtain details, including a copy of the Request for Applications and instructions. For the first time, LAUSD is offering to write and administer grants on behalf private schools. Interested parties should plan to attend the Private Schools workshop scheduled for Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. on the 1st floor Blue Room of the LAUSD headquarters located at 333 S. The After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) programs are federally funded partnerships between schools and communities that provide safe and exciting learning, health, social services, cultural and recreational programs before school, after school, and on weekends for high school students.
Partners include large and national organizations, local grass-roots and community-based organizations, universities and foundations.
The ASSETs program strives to bring back the most at-risk children and youth into a safe educational environment that is inviting and one in which they feel that they can succeed. Paid and volunteer mentors and tutors, as well as teachers working after-school, help to care for and educate students. These programs include high school career academies and communication centers. As an example, students in the High School Programs will participate in leadership activities at their campuses to promote student awareness of issues and problems caused by drug and alcohol abuse, smoking, and domestic violence. Student leadership teams in BTB high school programs are also reaching out to incoming 9th grade students at their respective high schools to welcome them to their new school.
The State-funded After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program encourages collaboration between the school district, school site, and community-based organizations. The Beyond the Bell Branch (BTB) of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) collaborates with large and national organizations, local grass-roots and community-based organizations (CBO), universities and foundations. These city-wide collaboratives operate after school programs offering academic assistance, enrichment activities and recreational activities in a safe, supervised environment from the release of the school day until 6:00 p.m. each school day.
The collaborative nature of this grant encourages the creation of after school programs that meet the needs of the schools and its stakeholders.

Because of various funding streams and after school providers there is no "one" after school program application. Parents should request an application directly from your schools' after school provider. The Youth Services Program application is available in the BTB E-Library Student Auxiliary Services section.
